Paporn just drove along the busy street of Prachachuean in
Nonthaburi having her mind still on the job when she recognized
a little something on the sidewalk. Since the traffic was slow
moving she managed to park her car and approached the little
furry thing and what she saw right in front of her was a little
girl dog.
Since this little thing was so cute she decided to call her
Kanom, the Thai word for sweets. So Kanom was standing there and
she could only be three or four month old. Some people at the
bus stop said that Kanom was there since about a week and
probably was dumped.
Kanom had bite wounds and was obviously dehydrated and very
hungry. She somehow managed to get herself through the last days
hiding under a small bush close to the bus stop. The ticks and
fleas were her smallest problems and she completely was lost
over there. Since no one really cared for her she had no other
choice but to stay and wait for her fate to unwind.
But today was her lucky day and Paporn took little Kanom, put
her in the car and brought her to a vet where she was thoroughly
examined, cleaned up and administered the necessary medicine to
bring her back to her feet.
Paporn used the time at the clinic and talked to some of the
people who waited there for their appointments. And since this
was Kanom's lucky day there also was a nice lady who agreed to
adopt Kanom once her emergency treatment was over and Kanom
would be ready to go to her new home.
Today Kanom joined her new family and will now have a home with
other dogs to play with. She will now live with Pa Phanida in
Nawamin Road and we all hope that she will enjoy her days over
there. She is still very young and will hopefully adopt well to
the change and we are sure that her new dog friends will help
her to forget the terrible ordeal at the bus stop.
So, Kanom was lost, found and adopted. We really hope that Kanom
will do fine and just to make sure we asked Pa Phanida to bring
her back to Khlongdogs if it somehow doesn't work out well. But
as of today there is one less dog in despair and off the roads
of Bangkok.
For us it is one dog at a time but the current economic
situation makes us believe that there will be many more dogs and
cats who will be dumped on the streets of Bangkok. Unfortunately
it is the weakest who suffer the most from this situation and it
is our aim to help as many as we can. Please consider your
ability to help, look around your home and you may find a nice
place for one of these poor souls.
Please help to find a home for the rest of the unfortunate
street animals in Bangkok. |
